WIP Wednesday

Once upon a time, I was a focused quilter/sewer. I only worked on one project at a time. I also only had enough fabric to work on one project at a time :)

Well, in the three years since, I've become such a starter! I get inspired by what I see on the interwebs, books, and just what's around me... which leads to projects that just take a little while to finish, like this quilt top. The pattern comes from Quilting Modern. It's writing themed-- with my precious bit of typewriter fabric at the center along with text prints, a clock print (nothing like writing under pressure!) and many favorite orange and teal prints. It was surprisingly quick to piece and then when the only thing left to do was join the 8 rows that make up this quilt, I stopped...

Three months later I've picked it up again and love it. It is about 54" square and I'm debating adding on another row because now it doesn't seem quite big enough (though I intend for it to be a wall hanging, so maybe it is getting too big!). I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I also worked a bit on my Valentine's day scrappy trip, but then with just a few blocks left to piece, I got started on this quilt top/duvet, which will be for baby boy's birthday.

I'm now at the point where I need to make the backing and then button holes for the duvet. Let's hope it happens quickly since I'm gifting it later this week!

I'm linking up to WIP Wednesday to see what you are up to (but don't "make" me start anything new, please! :)

  2. Love the writing quilt, it reminds me of a granny square block (which I also love!) I'd say keep making it bigger because then you could use it as a throw when reading a good book, or writing one! hehe

  6. I love your writing quilt! Do you have a spot picked out for it to hang? I would say take it there and see how you like the size.

  10. Wow, that's looks great! I think maybe one extra row just to show off those floating bits that have "broken" off.
